You want to live "like the king in France" ? no problem come and enjoy southern Thailand living, living in southern Thailand, here its better.

Living in Southern Thailand has many positive and some not so positive sides. Rentals are very  economically, food is low priced, there is plenty of entertainment, good restaurants, friendly, positive thinking people and a very relaxed living atmosphere.

Maybe it fits into your retirement, pension or 401k plan, see column reight.

Most bigger hotels in southern Thailand offer up to 30 satellite channels in the TV, actually Southern Thailand living in this terms is more liberal as lets say in Singapore or Malaysia since there it's forbidden to install satellite dishes, here anyone can do it,
there are no limitations, there is more or less only one serious satellite service provider, UBC and they are overdoing it from time to time in terms of pricing and the offering of mainly English channels.

The infrastructure in southern Thailand is quite good, with some negative sides like water quality (make sure the kitchen prepares your tom yam with water from the bottle), some electricity breakdown and sometimes problems with the telephone.

The road network in southern Thailand is very good (with very few exceptions), similar to the US or Europe, in may places even better than in many Europe or American countries.

Almost all normal consumer goods are produced locally also foodstuff, even German type ham, sausage, cheese bred and others is available, locally made and you wont taste any difference to the original ones.

Since it is always very noisy it is really necessary to check carefully. It is nothing uncommon that some local people turn up the radio full power or whatever until 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning and consider you as a real enemy if you say something.

For a comfortable living in southern Thailand also check the water, very often during the month without rain there is a shortage of water and the owner has to buy water by the truckload. Since they always buy the cheapest, they naturally get the worst, that means polluted water on a level you wont see normally, that leads to all kind of problems including infections if you have some scratches or so.

For living in southern Thailand without problems also check the mosquito issue, many places have a lot and the local people just don't care about it. Since every year there is a outbreak of dengue fever and other mosquito born problems its really advisable to check.

Naturally living in southern Thailand also means to have a careful look into the traffic situation around. The worst time usually is in the morning when the kids are rushed to school and around 4 - 5pm when the kids are picked up from the school.

In most towns in southern Thailand are some agents who help you to have a look for your place to have a good living or go to the internet and check for particular apartments.

Do yourself something good, retire in Thailand.

In general, your hard earned money has about 3 times the value in comparison to Europe, USA etc. As a example, a tasteful Tom Yam Seafood (seafood soup) with rice and a Coke you get everywhere for under 3 EURO.

If you are sick of the laser guns at every road and all this everyday problems at home , all this .. you are not allowed to do this and that, the lousy weather, unpleasant people, exorbitant taxes, the doorman at the restaurant and the disco-- emigrate to Thailand, it’s easy going and you feel like to be in paradise.

The government has understood this and is offering special long term retirement visa -no taxes-Maybe it fits into your retirement, pension or 401k plan.

You can easily find a great woman, also when you are maybe already a little old or maybe handicapped. Rent or buy a suitable house and have a good time.
It’s also quite easy to get domestic staff if someone is handicapped. A pretty house with two bedrooms, baths, living rooms, garden etc. not far from the sea (maybe 30 - 50 Meter) in a orderly private compound with security, swimming pool and so on comes to approximately 500 - 1000 EURO per month.

For 100 to 200 thousand EURO you get a spacious villa near the beach with everything you want. They have special constructions for ownership of land since officially a foreigner can’t own land. Check if it fits into your retirement, pension or 401k plan

Also leasing of land for e.g. 30 years with a option for another 30 year is a common possibility and .. almost for sure within this timeframe they probably will relax the foreign ownership of land anyway.
