Hat Yai has huge shopping malls
lining small
streets and is dedicated to
entertainment.
Unfortunately the
Islamist terror pressure forced a
lot of small shops to close down, they
are
simply afraid of the bombs so they just don't open the shops
anymore.
Malaysian, Singaporean
and Japanese
tourist who seek some short
time fun are the majority
of visitors in Hat Yai southern Thailand.
But they are very welcome and this is good so, because the
tourists
are the ones who bring money into the city to pay the Thai people.
This
money siphons off to elsewhere in Thailand to supply the basics
for many people, no Muslim terror ever gave a penny to the
people
who needs help, only phrases. The tourists are the ones who keep
people's live going.
Thailand's deep south starts in the area
around Hat Yai and stretches
southwards to the Malaysian border.
The area is dominated by farm
and fishing communities, a huge mosque is
between Songkhla and
Hat Yai (picture below).
