had a real boom in recent years, before it was only Thai
international, now there are many more offering similar services
like Thai for between half the price up to just similar.
Check the internet for Air Asia, Thai Orient / One
Two Go, PB Air, Bangkok Air, Siem Riep Air (that is the
Cambodian branch of Bangkok Air) and naturally Thai
International.
After
opening the very closed market of the airline business, its
booming. A couple of newcomer like Air Asia, Phuket Air, Thai Orient / One Two
Go, PB Air, Bangkok Airand others turned the heat on Thai
International - the State carrier - who had a comfortable
monopoly with a lot of corruption going
on inside the company, the current Prime
Minister Mr. Thaksin did a good job to gave
some pushes for liberalization for the airline market. On the other
side, most of the newcomers maybe except Bangkok Airways -which
is managed quite good - has a lot of problems in particular,
timing. They try to squeeze as many trips as possible into the
available hours, also cutting turnaround-
time at the airports to
half hour -particular Air Asia- and naturally by afternoon
almost every day they accumulate already 2-3 hours delay which
due to the tight schedule cant be compensated.
So be aware if
you use those airlines you might sit around for hours somewhere.
Since they are also very reluctant in taking back your ticket if
the aircraft wont start or even change the ticket to a other
flight, your holiday can easily turn into a nightmare. They are
a little bit cheaper than Thai International but time is also
money.
A typical
approach to a one two go counter in the lotus mall in
Phuket goes like this. At the booth they have 2 ladies and one
computer. Usually they are always busy with chattering and
mobile phone. I
tell them 3 times.. to make a booking.. first they don't answer
because she is still busy with her make up.
After 3
attempts she tells, the computer is out of work, which I know
that's since half year at least, now I ask pls. make a
booking...cannot, computer mot leo.. which means computer
finished. Ok. pls. take your mobile phone and make the booking, so, after cornered here she takes the mobile and call somewhere,
she tries this at least 10 times, nothing happen, after a while
she got a connection and made some bla bla, so finally it looks
like she made some progress and all in vain because after some
back and forward she admits she has no ticket paper to write a
ticket. I asked here why you cant call your HQ and order this
papers, she tells she cant do this...she is to small to do this,
only the boss can do.... I asked her ok where is the boss, the
answer is oh, I don't know today boss no come.
The peculiar
thing is this mentality is almost exactly the same like if you
go to a Aeroflot counter in
Moscow in the 80 ties. The question now
is how can anyone give a airline operating license to such people, they
have obviously no idea what they are doing, now I get really
upset and pull out, this way is not a exception its the rule, I
just hope not to sit in a plane from them when the plane crash
due to obvious totally incompetence.
A example for a
helicopter service is here:
Si-Chang Flying service their program.
1. Executive charter flight
2. Aerial geophysical survey
3. Offshore support
4. Sight-seeing tours
5. Aerial emergency medical service
6. Other miscellaneous service
The Helicopters
The helicopters were jointly manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy
Industries Co., Ltd. Of Japan, and Messerschmitt-Boelkow-Blohm
Gmbh (MBB) of Germany. The twin-turbine engines were
manufactured by Textron Lycoming of the United States. The
Kawasaki BK-117 helicopters have high performance and safety
standards. They are able to fly in all weather condition and
over densely populated areas.
The main feature of the BK-117 is that it is a category a
machine with two engines. In the case of case of engine failure
or complication, the BK-117 would be able to function with just
on one engine, flying and land safety.
