Trang Beach Trang Tour

The province is south of Krabi province with around 50 islands, to the east is a hilly terrain with some waterfalls and limestone caves plus tropical jungle. This tropical jungle is best seen when driving to Phatthalung, further to Hat Yai, Sadao and Malaysia, Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Behind Trang city the road is just cut through the forest, there are great panoramas.

Trang city can look back over around 1000 years history mainly as a trading hub for sailing ships from Indonesia and south Asia and India. Around 1900 the first rubber tree plantings in Thailand was started here.

Today, the rubber production is an important industry in southern Thailand on certain places it starts already to be a monoculture together with oil palms plantings. The city has around 60,000 inhabitants whose main source is rubber, palm oil, fishing and to a lesser part Tourism for some reasons no one does any tourist promotion.

There are plenty of beaches at the coast and on the islands, Pak Meng Beach at the coast is the best known. At end of November the “mussels festival” is on, plenty of Thai people come to eat mussels.

Almost ever island in the archipelago has a great beach.

In general Pak Meng Beach is not very interesting, the attractions are on the islands and the biggest attraction is the Morakot cave or Emerald Cave.

Other islands are Koh Mook, Koh Hai, Koh Kradan, and other, Koh Lanta (Krabi province) is just to the north. The underwater world is full with tropical fish and has still intact coral banks sometimes dugongs can be seen. A Trang tour is always good for a surprise.

Some Trang day trip destinations are Tham Lay Cave and Roi Chan Pan Wang waterfall they all are hidden behind rubber plantings and not easy to find for a foreigner, if like to visit the places, its really worth it, get some locals and ask them to function as guide and ask how much before you start, not after. If you like beaches, caves and exotic environ a Trang day trip is the right spot.

There are several Wats around, a excellent Trang daytrip is to Wat Tham Sumano a cave temple about 40km in the hilly terrain. Plenty of Trang hotels make your life easy and enjoyable.

Flights to Trang are always through Bangkok and nearby Krabi International Airport since Trang airport is not an international one, means no immigration capability.

Tiger Airways flies from Singapore's Changi Airport to Krabi Airport and Ko Lanta and Trang are more or less in the vicinity. Trang hotels are plenty in every price range also at Koh Trang, actually Koh Trang = Island Trang as a single definition is not existent but in the archipelago are more than 50 Trang islands, means everyone will find a great place and a Trang beach just for himself. Since Trang has practically no nightlife you need to take a companion with you, call it a nice Thai girl otherwise it gets boring. Many travelers mistakenly take Trang Thailand for Trang in Vietnam or the Tarutao Archipelago and Kho Lipe.

Seafood is abundant and not expensive (needs negotiation even in a restaurant) , beaches are great, and sightseeing tours are really worth the money. Trang travel always means explore the islands,
