Diving at Koh Tao
is probably the
reason for traveling to the island. The island is rather a scuba diving destination
with pretty beaches and great Koh Tao resorts. A remote pristine island in the
gulf of Thailand north of
Koh Samui and east of
Chumphon, the Koh Tao ferry starts at

In this part of the Gulf of Thailand there are 3 islands, Koh Phangan,

where the train and bus from Bangkok stops. The island is about 21sqkm and accommodation is often

accommodation and scuba diving as part of the package.
Koh Tao is one of the best places in
the world to learn scuba diving and also one of the cheapest in tandem.
With no currents and sheltered bays, it's the perfect place to learn
scuba diving in the warm tropical waters of the gulf of Thailand, the Ko
Tao ferry takes only about 2 hours.

motorbike/scooter hire, but this is dangerous anyway, Thailand has some
of the highest rates of road accidents in the world and at the top are
accidents with small motorbikes and scooters. |

There is no airport on the island
means a train or bus, usually from Bangkok, is needed, several buses and
trains leave Bangkok every day. A Phuket Koh Tao trip by bus to Chumphon
and by the ferry to this Thailand island could also be made easily.
Travel there is best by bus, don’t use the train, the train is extremely
slow , the bus faster and brings you right to the ferry pier prices are
also not much different. A speedboat from the pier bring the traveler to
island. There are plenty of beach resorts, beach bungalows, cottages and
other. Sairee beach is the most popular and has also .some nightlife but its not like
Patong beach.
There are also other events at the island
such as, 750 divers had gathered at Koh Tao some time ago, from Thailand and other
countries to participate at the biggest mass dive breaking the record
previously achieved in Australia two years ago when 590 participated at
a similar event. |
