- Hat Yai Thailand is the third largest city in the country just behind Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Hat Yai Thailand has a Hat Yai hotel at almost every corner in the down town area. People are coming in via a flight to Hat Yai, notable is the new flight connection Singapore to Hat Yai by Tiger Airways from Changi Airport Singapore. It is difficult to find anything written about Hat Yai, probably the best definition of Hat Yai is a business hub for southern Thailand where people rush through down to Sadao and to Malaysia. A Hat Yai tour in terms of tourism has always something to do with nightlife and Hat Yai shopping, some good Hat Yai hotels to stay and maybe a daytrip to Songkhla Town which actually is the capital of this Thai province, its Songkhla Province. Songkhla is a very old city plenty of remains such as the old city wall and old artifacts give evidence. Hat Yai is a couple of kilometers west of Songkhla and the biggest Mosque of southern Thailand is just beside the motorway linking the 2 cities.  

Hat Yai town is the major commercial city in the south Thailand region, actually it’s somehow a small edition of Bangkok, and the Chinese influence is visible everywhere in down town.  Not much more to say aside Hat Hat Yai nightlife is really sizzling and this supplies income for thousands of Thai people in southern Thailand, some of the nightlife has been extended further south to Sadao at the border to Malaysia.

Hat Yai weather follows the same pattern as in Thailand general, monsoon from about June to October, after its rather dry and sunny with some showers in between. Hat Yai is really pleasant, its always warm and this gives a excellent ambiance. Since hotels in Hat Yai Thailand are plenty its difficult to define a particular one. Probably the best Hat Yai hotel is the Lee Garden Hotel in the center, a huge hotel above a shopping center; it’s the tallest building in town. The best feature of this hotel is the panorama restaurant on top, the view over the plain all the way to Songkhla over a wide radius and is real great. In

None of this spilled over to the west side in resent years. The city is about 50 km north of the Thailand Malaysian border crossing at Sadao and Padang Besar. This proximity to the border is the main source fueling a sizzling nightlife in Hat Yai and Sadao which is the village right at the border.

Hundreds of girls in the nightclub, massage, bar, karaoke etc. business are waiting every day for the customers in neighboring Islam oriented Malaysia. The guys from Malaysia and some from Singapore get exactly what they are looking for, nightlife with pretty young Thai girls who try to have a good time with the guys and get some money for. Excellent restaurants are around, in particular exotic Chinese restaurants, Hat Yai looks very much as a Chinese town in general, Chinese letters dominate the street, there is no Chinatown as in Kuala Lumpur and elsewhere whole Hay Yai is a Chinese town. Shopping is cheap; plenty of Hotels are available at Hat Yai and Sadao not asking questions when someone takes the girl with.

Flights to Hat Yai are available from Bangkok and Singapore via Tiger Airways. A bus to Hat is available from Bangkok, Phuket, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and the other bigger cities in southern Thailand, the same is for Sadao. The buses from Malaysia to Hat Yai first stop at the border at Sadao. Part of the nightlife business at Sadao comes from the travelers who get stranded every night at the border since the border is closed from 11pm to 5 am. At neighboring Padang Besar the border is closed from 9pm to 5am. Thailand bus service is the

main means of transport in the area and Hat Yai also has a big railway station where the Hat Yai trains stop, the trains come from Singapore, Malaysia and Bangkok. - Downtown in Hat Yai city and a bit off the center at Sadao are a couple of tall hotels such as Lee Garden Hat Yai, the Regency Hotel Hat Yai, Novotel and other Hatyai hotels. In the vicinity of the hotels are the nightlife places offering nightclub shows, bars, pubs and restaurants. At Sadao the bars and discos are usually in small houses along the road and some are in the big hotels. In the nightlife business in this part of southern Thailand thousands of Thai people have good paid jobs, the girls and the other working here come in from all Thailand, some even from Laos. - Nightlife Hat Yai is not as screaming as lets say Patpong in Bangkok or Bangla Road at Phuket Patong, its a more laid back atmosphere in particular there are no go-go
